How to Speed Up Your Computer

If your computer feels slower than it used to, the cause is usually one of a few common culprits: too many programs launching at startup, a hard drive that’s nearly full, accumulated temporary files, or a browser weighed down by extensions and cache.

Start by reviewing your startup programs and disabling anything you don’t need running the moment you turn on your PC. Next, run a disk cleanup to clear temporary files, old Windows update leftovers, and browser cache. If your drive is more than 85% full, consider moving large files (videos, old downloads, backups) to external storage.

Finally, restart your computer regularly. Many performance issues build up over weeks of uptime and clear immediately after a fresh restart. If performance issues persist after these steps, there may be a deeper issue like a failing hard drive or malware — that’s a good time to bring in a technician.
