Signs Your PC Has a Virus
Malware doesn’t always announce itself. Common warning signs include unexpected pop-ups, a browser homepage or search engine that changed without your permission, new toolbars or extensions you didn’t install, a noticeable slowdown, and programs crashing or opening on their own.
You might also notice your antivirus software has been disabled, unfamiliar programs in your list of installed apps, or friends receiving strange messages from your email or social accounts that you didn’t send.
If you notice any of these signs, avoid entering passwords or financial information until the machine has been checked. A remote virus remediation session can usually identify and remove the infection the same day.
